When we were approached by Sarah Garnett to support her unique initiative, Kennards Self Storage was thrilled to be involved.
After the death of her young friend, Benjamin Andrew, Sarah Garnett decided to dedicate time as a volunteer. She was serving meals to the homeless in Sydney when she noticed a man reading under a street light. She then started to bring more books for them to read. The Benjamin Andrew Footpath Library has begun!
Support galvanised around Sarah’s initiative and her garage was quickly outgrown.
Kennards Self Storage stepped in with free storage space for her quickly accumulating books. The Sydney operation is based in our Kennards Brookvale centre.
The Footpath Library has now grown to Melbourne and Brisbane. Kennards Self Storage is also pleased to support this growth with space at our Flemington centre in Melbourne and our Newstead centre in Brisbane.
Due to overwhelming flood of donated books the library is only taking book donations in Melbourne. If you have good quality books that fit the following genre: Women and mens fiction including romance, thriller and sci-fi; non-fiction including dictionaries, simple cook books and self help, please deliver to Kennards Self Storage, 159 Racecourse Road, Flemington.
Of course the initiative is always appreciative of financial donations.
