Free Storage Given to Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation

share-a-book-1Kennards Self Storage is pleased to support The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) in their Share-a-Book program.

ALNF is a philanthropic organisation dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia and raises funds to develop, implement and sustain innovative projects for individuals, families and communities. ALNF’s programs span from early years learning through to adolescent and adult learning needs and address the needs of a diverse range of individuals and communities, including Indigenous, refugee and migrant communities.

One of the many challenges faced by ALNF when implementing literacy programs in marginalised communities is the lack of basic literacy resources available to students. This presents a significant barrier in helping these children develop the necessary literacy skills required of them to actively participate in the schooling environment.

Share-A-Book provides new and quality pre-loved books and magazines to Indigenous, refugee and marginalised communities in need of resources. Children’s and early teens books and magazines are donated to ALNF by schools, corporations, publishing houses, booksellers and individuals and are then distributed to targeted regions across Australia.

Gabrielle Kemey from ALNF approached Kennards Self Storage asking for our support to help store all of the donated books for the Share-a-Book program. Kennards are happy to assist this worthy cause.
