Our climate-controlled wine cellar units have become so popular that following on from the recent Mt Eden cellar expansion, we now have wine storage at our Wairau Valley centre.

Kennards Self Storage wine cellars have been available in New Zealand for the last ten years at our exiting Mt Eden and Wellington sites. The demand for wine storage has grown as savvy wine consumers invest in wine for an alternative investment strategy. But also, we have seen the consumption of wines increase and with limited weather events sometimes affecting particular yearly vintages, more and more people are buying quantities of wine to secure their personal choice and know they have it when there is limited supply.  As the climate of the wine cellar is controlled within a tight range of 15-16 degree temperature and 65-75% humidity, these conditions are perfect to keep all wine in the best long-term conditions and are also idea for some medical representatives who need to store samples of product / cultures or other delicate items that need a stable environment. Recently, we have seen storers use the wine cellar environment to keep paperwork and items from exposure to the normal range of day-to-day heat and humidity to save on natural decay.

Finished at the end of July, the Wairau Valley wine cellar has 101 cellars available to meet all wine storage needs, ranging from the very popular 24 case cellar right up to the largest cellar fitting 250 cases at very good value-based pricing. The purpose made wine cabinets have 3 levels of cupboards to easily store all types of wine boxes and bottles and everything is secured closed and locked with a latch and your own padlock, so access is controlled by you only. As an added feature, each wine cellar is individually alarmed and access to the wine cellar is separate to the general storage area by an extra PIN code operated door.

Where we have provided the larger 100 case cellars, we have provided a swing door unit similar to a general storage unit so you can decide how you want to store your wine which may come in different boxing than traditional boxes of wine and to also give you the flexibility to add your own shelving to suit your needs – this option is very popular with our business customers who visit their wine cellar often and need quick easy access to all their wine.

The wine cellar is easily located on the first floor down one corridor from the lift, easy to use wine trollies are also available. You can reserve your climate controlled wine cellar online or come down and view the wine cellars, the Wairau Valley team are ready to assist 7 days a week.
